The way I start an redecoration project is to choose one piece of furniture that I want to give the main focus. I have bought art for many years and I tend to take a piece of art as the starting point and then decorate around it. In my bedroom I have a photo 1 x1 meter by Stein Henningsen above my bed (see the last image in the blogpost). The image is from Spitsbergen, I absolutely love it. It is like and extra window with a great view in the room. I have had it on a white wall and on a light gray wall, but the colors have never done it justice. It needs a dark backdrop to make the image pop-out and shine. So I have decided to go for a dark blue backdrop to make the centerpiece shine.
Step two of my process is to start collecting an moodboard, and the images showing here is my bedroom moodboard (Pinterest is great for this). All in blue. From dark walls in blue to more lighter rooms where the blue is just on the accessories. Not sure where I will end up. Should I keep it all white and blue? Or maybe I should add some yellow to the color palette. Or some black? Time will tell. I also find a great deal of inspiration in fashion and nature photography.
